Structures in this biome
The following structures can generate in desert:
- Village — Villages are the most common inhabited structure. They generate in plains, desert, savanna, taiga, snowy and (since 1.19) meadow biomes, and their building style follows the biome underneath them.
- Desert Pyramid — Desert pyramids hide a four-chest treasure room above a pressure-plate TNT trap.
- Pillager Outpost — Pillager outposts are watchtowers guarded by pillagers, with a caged allay in newer versions. They never generate within a few hundred blocks of a village.
- Ruined Portal — Overworld ruined portals generate in every biome — buried, underwater or exposed — and their chests can contain enchanted golden apples and obsidian.
Finding a desert in your world
Biome placement depends on the world seed and the Minecraft version. Open your seed on the seed map, then pan around: biome shading shows where each biome sits, and structure layers show what generates inside it.
Note that biome rendering requires the WebAssembly generation engine described in the seed map documentation. Structure candidate positions, chunk geometry and slime chunks are computed exactly without it.
