About MineSeedMap

An unofficial Minecraft seed map built to be fast, honest about its limits, and useful without an account.

What it does

MineSeedMap turns a Minecraft world seed into an interactive map. You can pan and zoom around the world, switch between the Overworld, Nether and End, toggle structure layers, search coordinates, and share a permalink that restores the exact view.

How it works

Everything runs in your browser. World calculations happen in a background worker so the interface never freezes, and the map is drawn on a single canvas rather than thousands of DOM elements. Nothing about your world is sent to a server.

Accuracy first

Minecraft world generation is precisely specified, and a seed map is only worth using if it matches the game. Two rules follow from that:

  • No invented data. Structure candidate positions, slime chunks and coordinate maths are bit-exact ports of the vanilla algorithms. Where a feature needs full world generation — biomes, terrain checks, stronghold ring search — it is answered by a WebAssembly build of an open source generation library, or reported as unavailable. It is never approximated and presented as fact.
  • Versions are explicit. Generation changed between Minecraft releases, so the version is always part of the map state and part of the URL.

The technical documentation explains exactly which parts are exact, which need the engine, and what is still to do.

Open source

The project is open source. Bug reports, corrections to generation data and new version support are welcome on GitHub.
