Supported Minecraft versions

World generation changes between Minecraft releases, so a seed map is only accurate when it is told which version to generate. These are the Java Edition versions MineSeedMap supports.

Picking the wrong version is the most common reason a seed map disagrees with a world. Village spacing changed in 1.18, biome selection moved to 3D climate noise in the same release, and several structures simply did not exist in older versions.

Bedrock Edition

Bedrock Edition uses a separate world generation implementation. A Java map of the same seed will not match a Bedrock world, so MineSeedMap deliberately supports Java Edition only rather than showing results that would be wrong.

Adding a version

Versions are declared in one registry file and mapped to a generation profile. Adding a release is a data change plus, where generation actually differs, a new profile in the engine. See the developer notes →
