New structures in 1.13

  • Village — Villages are the most common inhabited structure. They generate in plains, desert, savanna, taiga, snowy and (since 1.19) meadow biomes, and their building style follows the biome underneath them.
  • Desert Pyramid — Desert pyramids hide a four-chest treasure room above a pressure-plate TNT trap.
  • Jungle Temple — Jungle temples contain an arrow-trap corridor and a three-lever puzzle guarding two chests.
  • Swamp Hut — Swamp huts spawn a witch and a cat, and are the basis of most witch farms.
  • Igloo — Igloos sometimes hide a basement holding a zombie villager, a cleric villager and the ingredients needed to cure them.
  • Ocean Monument — Ocean monuments are guarded by elder guardians and contain sponge rooms and eight blocks of gold.
  • Woodland Mansion — Woodland mansions are the rarest surface structure and the only place vindicators, evokers and totems of undying generate naturally.
  • Ocean Ruin — Ocean ruins come in warm sandstone and cold stone variants, and their chests can hold buried treasure maps.
  • Shipwreck — Shipwrecks hold up to three chests: supplies, treasure, and a map chest containing a buried treasure map.
  • Buried Treasure — Buried treasure always contains a heart of the sea, and always generates nine blocks in from the chunk corner.
  • Stronghold — Strongholds contain the end portal. Since 1.9 a world holds 128 strongholds arranged in eight concentric rings around the world origin.
  • Mineshaft — Mineshafts generate as sprawling corridor networks, with a denser badlands variant that sits much closer to the surface.
  • End City — End cities hold shulkers, enchanted diamond gear and — in the attached end ship — elytra. They only generate on the outer end islands.
